2027 Phonics Screening Check
Pupils in Year 1 will be assessed using the '2027 Phonics Screening Check' paper. The screening check assesses how well a child can use their understanding of phonics to decode both real words and nonsense (pseudo) words.
Schools in England must administer the check within the week beginning Monday 14th June 2027. Each school chooses which day within that week to run it, and larger schools often spread it over several days.
